While posting the Anthurium with Kamal Kadai, I had written about not being satisfied with what I'd done. Had a feeling that something was missing there, but could not place it. I tried again. The same flowers, the same technique, but with a slight variation in the pattern.
Instead of the stiff stems, I made it curvy; the leaves were modified too. The size of the flowers too were reduced .And the tip of the flower has come out better than the other one.
Here is a comparison. The pattern on the right which I posted last time is based on an actual photograph. The leaves are more real. It looks good as an individual pattern. But it looks firm & staunch.
Today's is a fancy version of the same. It looks dainty ,I just wish I had used a brighter color for the leaves.

What do you think? Do you like fancy embroidery patterns full of curves and swirls ? At present, I am kind of vacillating between both - I like 'em both, but the left one slightly more.
Till the next post,
Love,luck and sunshine,
Deepa
I like them both. But 1 mark extra to the left one :)
ReplyDeleteThe fancy pattern looks much nicer to my uneducated and profane eye.
ReplyDeleteBut I suppose that it depends on where you are going to use the pattern: in a modern setting the 'natural' pattern with simple lines would look more apt.
Loved today's version...loooks great. How r u feeling Deepa??
ReplyDeleteBeautiful this pattern is also lovely ...
ReplyDeleteI like the one on the left a lot more. It's really elegant.
ReplyDeleteIt depends what I'm stitching, but I usually prefer a free-flowing pattern over one that looks formal and stiff. Happy stitching.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it such a great feeling to expeiment and come up with something even better than earlier? Of course the stylised flower lookes more elegant :) I don't think that you should bother too much if it is not accurate. In literature, a poet is totally excused if he or she sets aside the conventional grammar and diction rules to comply with the metrical or tonal requirements of their writing. This is called poetic licence. By the same logic, I guess as an artist you can exercise your "artistic licence" :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI like the flowers of the fancy one and leaves of the right one.It looks so real. N I love patterns full of curves and swirls..:)
ReplyDeleteI find both of them equally beautiful, Deepa.
ReplyDeletelike both ... for different ocasions ... great work!!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm - that's a hard one. I really like the leaves from the first one and the flowers from the second one. Having said that, overall I prefer the one on the left.
ReplyDeleteHi Deepa... thanks for visiting my blog, it's always nice to hear from you. For your design, I love the free form, however, the other is just as stunning, perhaps if the center stem just curved slightly instead of straight up and down it would give it a little more "free form" too... the leaves are beautiful on this... true, depending upon the use, one is more formal than the other... I believe I had those flowers in my wedding bouquet! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHi Deepa,
ReplyDeleteI loved today's version. It's so beautiful.I like curves and swirls.

nice comparison deepa... i like the curve pattern.... too good
ReplyDeletei like the fancy one better. it has movement and it transmitts a feeling of fun.
ReplyDeleteboth are lovely deepa.. still a li'l mark more for the left one:)
ReplyDeleteI like them both but the curvy ones I especially like!
ReplyDeleteIm like the one on the left better Deepa I think it looks more natural.
ReplyDeletehugs
I much prefer the one on the left the flowers are more natural. The leaves on the right are more the right shape but need longer stems instead of being bunched together. I like the darker leaves as this allows the flowers to dominate. All in all two beautiful designs each with their own place ;-D
ReplyDeleteDeepa:-)Thanks for that comment on my blog...pushes me to do something!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the leaves at first work and flowers of second....
