Practising Roses-Brazilian Embroidery

Have been practising bullions again. And obviously I never practice with Edmar threads. They are way too valuable to be doodled with.

These are bullion roses stitched with Anchor Pearl cotton no. 8 .I've done rolled roses before for Ellens Basket. So ,why am I doing it again ? Coz I need to stitch one for the BE mystery project and I want to make sure that my bullions are getting stitched up alright. These roses are very simple to stitch. Does anybody need the instructions for these? Leave a comment and maybe I could mail it to you.

Embroidery Patterns-Days of the Week series from

Those among you who are on the lookout for Vintage Days of the week Patterns, here's a resource - The site is tipnut and these are the links to vintage puppy days of the week series , Kitten Days of the week and Gingham fruit days of the week . Once you go there, do spend a little time on the various household tips and Do-it-yourself projects that have been chronicled there. I found quite a few useful ones. Infact, there are several categories of tips and projects. Iam finding it difficult to imagine the piles of paper cutouts she would've hoarded until now.Truly, she's really nuts for tips!!! :)
Disclaimer : I've no commercial interests whatsoever in pointing out these resources ,it's just to share some information which I happen to find while googling.

Dumb !!! Who Me???

Good Morning!!! A new day and something new is about to be started.I've just finished tracing a pattern on to the cloth. The pattern had been in my mind for some time now.Its not completely original, though. I'll give credits when the time comes. And sorry, no pics for now. Let me see how it turns out.

Oh yes,the purpose of this post was something else - to reveal the dumbest thing I've done in the recent times- there I was, spending what seemed to be a looooooong time ,drawing through all the possible lines and once done, I , the most intelligent duffer on earth, peeled off the pattern paper and the carbon and what do I see- BLANK CLOTH!! How on earth???

I had traced the pattern with carbon paper in reverse -duhh!!! Usually I do check atleast once if the tracing is coming on nicely, this time I didn't do it even once!!! -Aargh.. Some one should've clicked a snap of me at that instance.

Thus the whole 'beautiful' process was repeated again, this time successfully and my pet project is all ready to be worked on.Come to think of it, there may be many of you out there who have done something like this one time or the other.Come on!! don't lurk..leave a comment and tell us what it was. Or should I tag someone and make them reveal it??

Our major 'Joint Venture' :)

7 AM : Meghna was up and about as usual. Her father and myself took turns in trying to get her tooth brushed.
7.30 AM: Finally , I emerge as the winner. Next, a glass of milk mixed with a little tea so as to let her feel that she's also drinking tea :)
8.00 AM: Breakfast done with, hubby left for work.Seeing me eating , she also asked for the same ,but once served she refused to eat and started to play around. Fed her in between.
8.30 AM: Water colors out, both of us were at our creative best :) She painted a cow blue!!!!
8.45 AM : Bat and ball..but only for 15 minutes. I was hit on the lip with the bat, retired hurt!!!
9.00 AM: Ring -a - ring - a roses..I was running out of ideas already!!!
9.10 AM: Eureka !! Out came a handful of all the cereals in the kitchen, gum ( kamm,in her language) and a sheet of handmade paper.
And the result was this...

Yay.....we spent almost AN HOUR on this(that's y its a major joint venture) although her time was used up for squeezing out the glue and pulling out rather than putting in.
10.00 : What next???
... And thus the story continues :)
